Throughout its history, Freedom has actively used the Freedom of Information Act, educated others about the importance of exercising this right, and extensively covered freedom of information news and trends. We have filed hundreds of requests under the FOIA to many different government entities, and gained the release of tens of thousands of pages of documents.

Also in this edition, we bring our readers up to date on the present state of the Freedom of Information Act, including how it relates to electronic information and what it has to do with today’s on-line life.

  • The Internet’s promise of the information superhighway is tempered by perils and temptations for the unscrupulous. For decades, the abuse of computerized information has been of major concern to civil libertarians, and today, after such dramatic advances in both telecommunications and computers, the problem has reached Orwellian proportions.

  • The long trail to uncover harmful chemical and biological warfare experiments their effects and inherent human rights violations started in the 1970s when the Church of Scientology and Freedom began to systematically investigate reports of the former servicemen and documentation obtained under the Freedom of Information Act.
