Turning Latvia Around

The Way to Happiness Latvia

In Latvia, 65 percent of the people believe it is impossible to become wealthy by working honestly, and 5 percent of the most affluent citizens left the country in one year because the nation was heading in the wrong direction.

Enter Velta Krivmane, the executive director of The Way to Happiness (TWTH) Baltic Foundation and Ilze Apsa, the executive director of TWTH Latvia. These two and others distributed 200,000 The Way to Happiness booklets, including 60,000 copies to 350 schools—31 percent of the nation’s schools.

Apsa says, “Through this project I am returning to school so I can help kids, teachers, parents and even the Ministry of Science and Education.”
