When the Czech Republic’s nonviolent change from communism to democracy took place, they called it the Velvet Revolution.

But when Eva Rehorova’s personal revolution began, self-taught and self-driven, it was made of pure steel determination—determination to find her own road to success and to help her native country.

She grew up the grandchild of school workers, literally living inside a school—a little girl who couldn’t have known how those scholastic roots would ultimately echo across her nation through her own work.

“If people speak English and know the language, the world is open to them.”

Because Eva was a visionary who saw the changes coming to the Czech Republic and recognized that her fellow citizens would need to learn English to survive and thrive in a post-communist economy.

Over 50,000 new English speakers

She first used a book to teach herself the language. Then, she began small, handing out leaflets in the Prague train station, offering English lessons.

And what made those lessons stand out—and ultimately sparked her school’s explosive growth—was her discovery of Study Technology, a breakthrough in learning developed by L. Ron Hubbard. With these tools, Eva’s students didn’t just memorize English—they understood it, and embraced her vision of the language as a bridge to a better future.

Soon, Eva was teaching, training other teachers and opening a vast network of Life Improvement Through Education (LITE) schools across the country to fill the demand. Meanwhile, her students became sought-after hires due to their newfound language skills.

Today, over 50,000 students have learned English thanks to Eva’s private revolution through Study Technology. And, for eight years in a row, LITE has won the prestigious Czech Superbrands Award.

And yet, in Eva’s own modest words: “My mission in life is to help people to live better lives. I do it through teaching English, because if people speak English and know the language, the world is open to them.”
